During WWII in Rome, an English, a Russian and an American soldier attempt to escape the Germans. They find refuge in the house of Esperia, a young Italian woman, who tries to contact the anti-fascist resistance and help the fugitives return to their respective armies. But she runs the risk of fascist supporters informing on her to the German authorities.
