In the aftermath of World War I, in a little German town, Anna daily visits the grave of her fiancé Frantz, killed at the front in France. But one day, a young French man, Adrien, comes to pray at the grave of his German friend. His presence, in the context of the German defeat, gives rise to passionate reactions in the town.
