WAR ON SCREEN, SO MUCH MORE THAN JUST A FESTIVAL
With War On Screen, our region has banked on cinema, one of the major art forms of our era, to bring Châlons-en-Champagne to the fore, particularly at an international level. This is an ambition, and a challenge, shared by many regional governments, with variable results from one region to another.
There is no doubt that WOS, now in its sixth year, has succeeded brilliantly. Due to its uniqueness, showcasing so many kinds of films, and because it embraces all genres, WOS has effectively become, in just a short time, an essential international rendezvous. Again this year, over thirty countries are represented this year, with a jury composed of professionals from a wide range of cultures.
WOS is a first-class cultural and cinematographic event, and also – as you can well imagine – a gamble: that of building a distinctive and enduring image, and also of attracting a great variety of audiences. In a word, a focal point for the whole region.
